Description
It really pays to have your camera on you at all times. I shot this photo behind the hockey rink after I dropped off my son for practice. I spotted this heron under a bridge along the trail. I watched him try over and over again to grab the fish in his beak and when he finally succeeded and took off he dropped it in the deep water about 20 meters from the bridge.
I shot this with my trusty Nikon d7000 with 70-200 vr2. settings were: 195mm, f2.8, 1/640, iso 6400. I used these settings to freeze him in flight.
